Take-home pay estimator
This does not calculate tax, and it will not guess your deductions. You enter your own effective deduction rate — the single percentage that covers everything taken from your pay — and it shows the resulting take-home figure.
Nothing is uploaded. This page does the arithmetic in your browser using JavaScript. The numbers you enter never leave your device.
How this is calculated
Net pay = gross salary − (gross salary × your deduction rate ÷ 100). That is the whole calculation.
We deliberately do not derive the deduction rate for you, because tax depends on your country, region, filing status, allowances, and code — none of which we ask for. Guessing it would produce a confidently wrong number.
To find your real rate, take a recent payslip, divide total deductions by gross pay for that period, and multiply by 100.
Worked example: $60,000 gross with a 30% combined deduction rate: $18,000 deducted, leaving $42,000 take-home, or $3,500 a month.
Common questions
Why will this not calculate my tax?
Because accurate tax depends on details specific to you and your jurisdiction, and we are not in a position to know them. A wrong tax figure is worse than no tax figure, so we ask you to supply the rate instead.
How do I find my deduction rate?
Take a payslip, add up every deduction for the period, divide by gross pay, and multiply by 100. Do it for two or three months and average them, because deductions often vary.
Is take-home the same as net pay?
Usually, yes — net pay. Some employers make post-tax deductions such as salary sacrifice or union fees that reduce actual banked pay further, so your payslip remains the authority.
What this does not do: This is illustrative arithmetic, not tax advice. It performs no tax calculation and accounts for no jurisdiction, allowance, band, or threshold. Always rely on your payslip, and consult a qualified adviser for anything that matters.
